The zygomatic smile is a true expression of happiness. Humans can easily distinguish between a genuine and simulated smile but are hard pressed to explain how they do it. Zygomatic Productions applies a similar understanding to sound creation.

The vast majority of sounds used in media are pulled from general sound effect libraries and manipulated to fit specific applications. The listener hears a thunderclap that sounds ‘fake’ for some reason, not realizing that they’ve probably heard the same sample repeatedly tailored for many uses. Similarly, music compiled from individual pre-recorded notes just never sounds quite right. Listeners can’t explain the difference, but they can hear it!

At Zygomatic Productions we believe in recording from unique live sources for every effect. Musical selections should be played as ‘pieces’ by skilled instrumentalists. While budgetary restrictions may make full-scale orchestral recordings and collection of exotic sounds difficult, Zygomatic Productions will endeavour to use live sources whenever possible to bring about the creation of a superior finished product.
